Four Tips To Spark Creativity!

“Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world.” – Brene Brown

Harnessing your creativity can be an extremely exciting task. It opens up your imagination and allows new ideas to flow. Anyone and everyone can tap into their creative spirit, but beginning the creative process can prove to be the hardest part, especially in the computer age we live in. Being able to manage both internal and external distractions can hinder our creative flow. Cell phones, social media, stress, and television are not conducive to the creative process. Below we have compiled a few pointers to help you disconnect from distractions, and channel your creative juices:

  • Remain consistent: If you are trying to create something, the best thing to do is to work on it regularly until it is complete. Taking large breaks may cause your creativity to be stunted drastically.
  • Be conscious of your environment: Make sure that when you sit down to create, your environment is conducive to doing so. Make sure your area is decluttered, as clutter can cause you to lose focus. You may also want to make sure that you have ambience that will spark your creativity. A few things to take notice of are lighting, music and the setting in which you sit down to create. You might want to light some candles, or burn incense to take it a step further. Be sure to also remove distractions, turn off the tv and/or cell phone.
  • Take note of your mood: You want to make sure that the mood you are in is in alignment with what you are trying to create. If you want to paint a picture of a beautiful sunny scenery, you may not want to do so if you are upset. Your creation will not portray what you intended it to. Make sure to create something authentic according to your mood.
  • Turn the analytics off for a while: Never analyze what you are creating mid creation. Allow your thoughts to flow and be produced organically. After the creative process is over, then look back and see what you’ve brought to life.

No matter what you decide to sit down and create, the above tips will help you in creating a masterpiece you are sure to love. Don’t forget to check out our Creative Creature playlist that can be found on Spotify, or played directly from this post below.
