Center Stage Parents Reveal Their Secrets: On Practicing
Students who practice at home generally excel faster and better than students who do not. However, at home practicing is sometimes hard to accomplish due to time management or just a lack of knowledge on how to properly practice. We asked some Center Stage parents to reveal their secrets on successful at home practicing. Here are some quick tips we discovered!
➜ Mrs. Falk Says: “Set a timer! I started at 5 minutes when my daughter first started lessons and gradually increased the timer throughout the year.” No matter what, end the practice session when the timer goes off. This way they will be excited for the next class.
➜ Mrs. Zhang says: “Create a practice schedule and hang it on the wall!” This way the kids can see when they have to practice and for how long each day.
➜ Mrs. Zhang also says: “Create a fun performance opportunity for your kids and have them put on a concert for the family on the weekends!”
➜ Mrs. Yurdiga says: “Make sure your teacher sets up a good practice regimen for the students to follow.” We suggest having a notebook where your teacher can list exactly what to practice for the following week.
