Learning to play an instrument is so beneficial for people of all ages. There have been studies done that show practicing an instrument can provide us with many benefits as we age, ultimately defending against memory loss and cognitive decline. That being said, if you do start music lessons before the age of nine there are additional benefits. Learning an instrument before 9 year old and continuing to play for the next ten years increases your verbal working memory, your level of coordination, and your differentiation between sound and speech.
Choosing an instrument can be overwhelming with so many different options to chose from. It helps to narrow it down into different categories. Some instrumental categories are string instruments, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and voice. After determining which instrumental category you resonate the most with, you can then look into which instruments fall within that category and which appeal to you.
Lucky for you, we understand that choosing an instrument can be daunting. Every year at Center Stage we host: Instrument Exploration Day. This is a free event where you can join us and try various different instruments with our talented university trained instructors. We will show you the basics on an instrument of your choice and will show you what it takes to become a pro! This is an amazing opportunity to take a tour of our studio, and eat some snacks as we educate you for FREE! You need to RSVP to hold your spot for this event.
